I found this shabby chic sign on Pinterest and thought was cute. But the diy project required a cutting machine such as a silhouette or cricut machine. I do not have one, so I showed it to my husband. He said he could cut out the image onto wood with his CNC machine. To get more info on the CNC project, please visit filamentFriday.com.
Before u do anything, size your wood piece to the location u intend using it. I wanted to create a woodland creature xmas theme this year. I found this super cute owl at kohls so I wanted to feature it in a prominent area. I thought it would look great with the deer sign. So I sized the wood for the sign to go with the owl and a favorite picture of my kids.
I then painted around the deer image with a 1" brush but used the small art brush to get close to the outline. I used the same white chalk paint for the sign. I finished with painting the deer nose with red craft paint. I decided that I didn't feel like sanding to distress. So at this point the sign was complete. But u could sand here and there. You could also seal the sign with a matte sealer spray.
