August typically isn't a great month for a flower show. So i keep sneaking in any thing i come across. today i planted mums, sunflowers and coneflowers. just the little bit made a huge difference on the garden appearance. the addition also used up all my little foot spacers. i'm not sure how i will get around in the garden now! lol!!!
Anyway, i am working long hours every day to complete Toad Hollow so it will be published and ready for october. i am still working on Impressionist Summer Cottage, but am in no hurry to complete it.
As of September, my focus will be on cheer obligations. i am in charge of cheer and homecoming decorum. i will be very consumed by this, as i plan to personalize and customize all the decor and memorabilia.
**********************Always busy! Always me!***********************
Please comment on which cover is more aesthetically pleasing for my next art book.

Impressionist Summer Cottage
An Unsalted Tail
Vanessa and Mr. Luvvy had an errand to run in Michigan. This was going to be a long summer road trip. Michigan was many states away from them. They had finally located a rare and valuable antique they had been searching many years for. Alas, they had located it in the sleepy little town of Holly, Michigan. Because it was so rare and valuable, they felt safer about picking it up in person. They did not trust shipping the antique that would prove to be the beloved prize of their collection.
Holly was a hub for antiques. There were many charming old buildings filled with memories. Memories and the distinctive scent of yesteryear. Holly had a interesting history in itself. Investors and developers tried to assist the town in tourism. Many efforts were made to increase patronage to the town. Festivals, fairs, special events, etc. But the town never seemed to blossom.
Vanessa and Mr. Luvvy were artists. Vanessa was multi-talented and wasn’t really limited to any particular art form. She enjoyed painting, photography, writing, making art dolls and so much more. She had an artful website and blogged regularly. Mr. Luvvy was a musician. He wrote music, he played music, he collected vintage instruments and sheet music. Mr. Luvvy was all about that which intrigued and pleasured the auditory senses. He lived and moved by the sound of life.
Neither of them knew much of Michigan. But they liked the adventure of a road trip. As expected, the excitement of such an adventure prompted Van to blog about it. She also knew she had a few bloggers from that state that occasionally visited her site. She made an inquiry for special attractions in Michigan. She wanted an adventure that would fall nothing short of a fairy tale. She wanted to race in a motorcar with the wind in her wig! Poop, poop! And she knew Mr. Luvvy would be much abliged. He was always favorable that way. Ever tending to the fair maiden, Miss Vanessa.
Vanessa’s fellow bloggers were happy to contribute their knowledge and expertise on the subject. After all, who would know better the state than the resident Michiganders? Each blogger gave suggestions and advice. But one blogger seemed to have much to say about what to do and where to go. In fact, the blogger was even familiar with the shop they were acquiring their treasure from. She had antiqued there many times herself. The blogger was quite pleased to be of assistance.
The shop that Van and Mr. Luvvy would be soliciting was once featured in the newspaper. The shop owners had believed that the old building was haunted by an unfriendly spirit. They hired a professional to exercise the building of any poltergeists. Many of the shops in Holly were old. It was an old historical town filled with old structures and old things. Maybe all that old stuff held onto memories and had an energy of it’s own - like Warehouse 13. Even the blogger had felt that the town had a transcendental feel about it. The blogger was quite rooted in the reality of fact and evidence supporting fact. But she was also philosophical. Therefore, she could not completely dismiss events lacking evidence as being untrue.
The blogger also knew of the proprietors of that antique shop. She had purchased many old books there. Always an older gentleman at the counter. And occasionally a small man in a fedora. The blogger had an intuition that the man in the hat would be smitten with Vanessa. She warned Vanessa to be leery of cat in the hat.
The blogger was adamant that they have a stay somewhere along the coast of Lake Michigan. The great lake is awe inspiring and the sunsets breath taking. The sandy shoreline is warm and inviting. There were many suitable places along lake Michigan that the blogger thought they might like.
The blogger listed a series of charming little towns and what made them so special. The blogger had visited these places personally, so she felt qualified to provide assistance from a fellow artist’s perspective.
Vanessa perused the information. She went over the list with Mr. Luvvy. After much thought and consideration, they decided to rent a cottage in Arcadia. This was a practical choice as they would also be traveling with their dog.
The blogger was excited to find they had settled on Arcadia. This was a personal favorite. It’s sort of a nothing little town. It has a very small downtown, a small marina and a teensy campground with no amenities. It has a great little museum. The entire second level is dedicated to Harriet Quimby. Harriet Quimby was born in Arcadia, Michigan and was the first U.S. woman to fly across the English Channel. She was unique in that she was the first U.S. woman to earn an Aviator license and that she wore a purple flight suit which was uncommon for the time.
The third level of the museum is a widows tower. Up there you will find a spectacular view and a heavy metal plaque that reads, "One God, One People - Living in Peace."
Despite the nothingness of this little town, it beholds an enchantment all its own. It’s a quiet place. Peaceful. The kind of place you can hear yourself think. Lose yourself in. If you close your eyes and listen, the ebb and flow of the great waters will speak to you. The blogger promised Van that something magical was sure to happen there. Vanessa had been longing for a wonderful new fairy tale. She didn’t care if it came in the form of a book or an experience. She wished on a star that the blogger was true. The blogger wished for Vanessa to be delighted.
