She shed summer project DIY ideas to make shed more attractive. Fresh paint, fake stone and flower boxes will help increase yard and garden appeal.
Nothing has been done inside the shed. Maybe that will b next years project. I can think of a hundred different uses for such a cute addition to the back yard. Artists studio, potting shed, children's playhouse, guest cottage. The possibilities are endless. Hope this has inspired you! Cheers and have a wonderful summer! ; D
These fake stone panels were purchased from Menards. These are Rocky Mountain Novistonefs by Novik (novik.com). The panel on the left is as is. I thought it bland and unrealistic. The panel on the right is the same stuff but I dry brushed craft paint onto each stone to create a varied, more believable looking stone finish. To follow is complete instructions on how I accomplished this task.
To transform the fake stone panels into authentic looking stone you will need: 5 Stoney looking colors of craft paint. I used Bleached Sand, Sandstone, Linen, Fawn, Barnwood. Use what appeals to you but subtle earthy colors work best. I also wanted the stone to be light colors. You may want to match the colors to your project. You will also need 5 disposable cups, a 1" craft brush and matte sealer.
Here is a section that has been dry brushed with the various craft paints. There are two major reasons craft paint was used and not professional paint. Craft paint contains less pigment and goes on more sheer to begin with. Only a hint of color is all that is wanted when creating a dry brush effect. Craft paint is inexpensive. A small bottle of craft paint is less than $2.
I liked Brockshire cottage so much I decided to make a smaller version to fit on my nightstand. I found this dollhouse (Sweetheart dollhouse kit) at Salvation Army for 10$. Someone did a very nice job assembling it. It was in great condition. As u can see, I've already begun modification. I plan on making it look as similar as possible to Brockshire cottage.
I have always wanted an herb and veg garden. I'm trying to create some garden magic by using images and ideas from my Storybook Cottage books and other fantasy and fairytales. This garden is the type of typical garden u would see in Brockshire (my Storybook Cottage world). I was also inspired by Beatrix Potters Hilltop (loved the movie about her Miss Potter).
I will post regularly on this project. I work slow because it's a big project. But it will b fun to see how it turns out. I am hoping to give my new workspace a storybook cottage look. So I am planning flowers and window box. Maybe some climbing roses? Well there's more summer! Ps. I have been writing a novel since January. It's for adults and will b magical! Cheers ; )
I found this vintage spice cabinet at Salvation Army for $10. It included all the spice bottles. All I had to do was replace the glass front and make custom Harry Potter potion labels. Here are some of the tools and supplies u will need. My labels are free if u like them. It took 8hrs. To design and create the potion labels. All together this project took two days. If u use my labels, it should only take u one day. Please go to my wizardlyfun.com site for DIY instructions. Cheers! ; ). The link is on the side bar.
what is the one word that encapsulates your intention for your life in the next year?
what is it that your soul is telling you to focus on?
well...I did warn you that you never know what your going to get. Lol
i came into 2017 feeling much more philosophical than artsy fartsy. I also stumbled into an inspiring blog ( live full out.com) about choosing just one word for the year and adjusting your priorities and goals accordingly. So I invite you to share yours here! Please comment on this blog if you are feeling generous. ; )
whats that? You want to know my special word? Hey, this blog is supposed to be about you, not me. Ok if you must know...
no, not that kind of magic! Lol. Strange energies and hidden powers (Douglas colligan, scholastic book service copyright 1979). I found an old childhood book that apparently I couldn't nerve getting rid of . I realized that this is a subject that has intrigued me for years. So humor me while I pseudo into agent scully and investigate the mysterious. Now, if you will excuse me, I have a book on metaphysics's awaiting me!
CHEERS! Good luck with your one word. Hmmm....luck....mysterious thing luck is.
"I believe in an everyday sort of magic - the inexplicable connectedness we sometimes experience with places and people; the eerie appropriateness of moments of synchronicity; the whispered voice, the hidden presence, when we think we're alone."
Thanks for visiting!
