Today I finished applying the stonework. When working on the stonework, after pressing in and sculpting the stones in an area, go back with a small chisel edge art brush and smooth the mortar and stones with a damp brush. The chisel edge will allow u to get into the mortar crevices. I also decided I did not like the stippled look and smoothed that a bit with the damp brush.

Apply texture paste to the exterior pieces of the cottage. You will not need much to create a faux stucco (waddle and daub) texture. I have found that the wilder you apply the texture paste the more interesting it will look after you paint it.

These cottage pieces have been stuccoed with the texture paste. You can see it's quite thin and non exist an in some areas.

Decided to add light periwinkle to the rest of the shingles. I was thinking, "doesn't Cinderella's castle have a blue shingled roof?" I'm not trying to copy that castle, but I was thinking it looks nice and it reminds me of a princess.

    Cheers!

"I believe in an everyday sort of magic - the inexplicable connectedness we sometimes experience with places and people; the eerie appropriateness of moments of synchronicity; the whispered voice, the hidden presence, when we think we're alone."
