Look how much stuff I was able to fit into just one cubby hole! And there is still room for more. I wrapped small aspirin and bandage boxes in scrapbook paper to reuse year after year. A pack of mini candy canes goes a long way. Wrapped in tissue is a car freshener for my daughter. Get the individually boxed tea bag gift set at Big Lots and put one in each cubby. The amount of space these cubby holes provide really allow a lot of options. There is enough room for more than candy. Gift cards, small toys, even underwear! Lol
I have already stocked and filled the cubbies for countdown. I can still add more as we go along. After the day is over, put an LED tea light in the cubby for a Festival of Lights! Also, I found this adorable mailbox (on the top) at the dollar store. It's great for items that are too big for the cubby hole. Just put your large item in the mailbox and put the flag up to indicate a large parcel is waiting to be opened. CHEERS!
I am inspired by Cinderella Moments Wiltshire Cottage to finish this half scale dollhouse. It has been sitting on my shelf all summer - unfinished. Click on Cinderella moments icon on the side and see for yourself. Caroline has created a lovable cotswold. My house will be impressionistic so that I can have it done for December. I want to display it on my hall table. My Christmas cotswold will be decked in snow, lights and Xmas decor.
I purchased this half scale dollhouse from amazon. Com. It is the Chantilly dollhouse kit by Greenleaf. I will make a few minor changes to conform to cotswold standards. To start: paint all main walls with 2 coats of a 50/50 mix of gesso and Annie Sloan Old White chalk paint. Roll on a thick coat of paint with a fuzzy roller. This will leave a bit of texture for a faux stucco finish.
My daughter decorated the tree with shiny plastic baubles, shiny plastic garland and snowballs from Kroger. A week before I let her pick out a few inexpensive tree items while at Kroger so she could share in the cheer. Teens love it when they can do their own thing. It's just part of the process of growing up. And letting them grow up! Lol
"I believe in an everyday sort of magic - the inexplicable connectedness we sometimes experience with places and people; the eerie appropriateness of moments of synchronicity; the whispered voice, the hidden presence, when we think we're alone."
