Moorlove's Apple Orchard & Cider Mill half scale dollhouse

9/25/2014

Picture
To build Moorlove's cider mill house you will need two of these kits (Michael's craft store)
Picture
You will need these upgrades. Miniatures.com for architectural components and exterior lamp. Modeltrainsoftware.com for the LED 6 light kit.
Picture
Assemble the kit to this point. Set upgrades in place so you can view where things will go.
Picture
More areas that will need to be trimmed. I am adding a completely different roofline.
Picture
Assemble the kit to this point. Set upgrades in place so you can view where things will go. Interior view.
Picture
Measure and mark with pencil and ruler areas that will need to be trimmed off. I not trimming the ground platform. But I wanted to mark where a wall will go.
Picture
Glue in all the punch outs that need to stay. The building will be stone and stucco (mostly stucco). The ground will be mostly dirt and grass. So the glue will get covered up anyway.
Picture
This is the Moorlove's orchard house from Toad Hollow (my book). I'm on a tight budget so this will be another impressionist piece. To save $: bare minimum of upgrades, Painted Spanish tile roof, stone and stucco exterior, make my own wallpaper, printed images instead of actual items. Ie. jugs of cider, donuts, caramel apples, etc.
Picture
I designed and printed my own wallpaper to save money. The added bonus is that everything matches and coordinates! Yay!

Toad hollow chapter book poem

9/24/2014

Picture
If Toad Hollow you desire
Go no further than the mire

Goldenrod and cattail grow
A place where people do not go

In the hollow you will find
Talking creatures of all kind

They celebrate the splendid fall
With song and dance and fun for all

In Toad Hollow you will see
Just how happy life can be!

I live in my own little world; but it's ok, they know me here

I'm visiting the Moorlove's Apple Orchard and Cider Mill in Toad Hollow. Don't worry, I have a place to stay. When you're a turtle, you never leave the comforts of home! Lol I think I shall stay for a spell. There is never any crime in Toad Hollow and everyone is civilized towards one another. Besides, Grandma Corey will be arriving soon. And everyone knows she's the best story teller in Toad Hollow. So pull up a blanket around the Bon fire with your mug of warm apple cider. Grandma Corey's coming! Grandma Corey's coming! ; D

I published Toad Hollow - Plumpkin Waltz, a storybook cottage series art book. Toad Hollow is a magical place with the emphasis on autumn. It's a silly story great kids. It will be followed by a detailed storybook about Toad Hollow. This will be a chapter book with occasional pictures (like Harry Potter). I am working diligently on the book, but it will take a while to compose. I will keep updates on the progress. Maybe even some sneak previews for special occasions. cheers! erin ;D

A very talented hockey player, my son Chris hellebuyck, left for a hockey game this morning in a suit. It's amusing that the only time he will wear a suit is for hockey!
Picture
Chris currently plays for the Oakland Grizzlies. He played for the Metro Jets a few years back.

    Cheers!

"I believe in an everyday sort of magic - the inexplicable connectedness we sometimes experience with places and people; the eerie appropriateness of moments of synchronicity; the whispered voice, the hidden presence, when we think we're alone."
