This is the kitchen/dining right side wall. If u want your hobbit hole to b similar to the movie, this will come close. The fireplace protrudes from the wall 1.5" and a pot belly stove goes inside. I had to cut the stove bottom off to fit. The pantry is from hobby lobby ($4). It also had to b trimmed on the sides to look like a built in.
I used the same size circle as the door (5.5" diam) to create that very cool fireplace from the movie. Just fold the circle in half and line the crease up with the bottom of the left parlor wall. Center the circle to the wall and trace a half circle onto the wood. Cut out the half circle with a scroll saw.
An easy way to create a planked look on wood is to score it with a ruler and butter knife. Then pencil in the scored crevice. To get even lines, use a graphic software and space out the lines half inch apart. Lay circle in template and line the ruler up with the lines. Easy peasy. Also, I had to cut a 5.5" diam. Circle for the door. Then keep sanding it down until the rotten thing fit!
The Hobbit has been on my mind a lot lately. So much so that I am giving in to the hobbity dreams. I just watched the hobbit trilogy and then lord of the rings trilogy. I thought this would quench my thirst. It seems to have only egged me on. My next project will b bilbo baggins hobbit hole - bag end. A 1" scale condensed version. I wil provide instruction if u would like to build one too. If u do not have proper tools, build it out of cardboard. Surely u can recycle an old box and use scissors! ; D
Here is the schematic for the front wall and the floor plan. It's quite simplified. I usually like to find somewhere in the middle for building structures. Meaning it will not b too easy nor too difficult. So have fun and b a kid again. B brave like the hobbit and have an adventure with Gandalf and the dwarves! ; D cheers ; D
